It was indeed a great day when FCE Abeokuta Alumni Association, Abeokuta Branch decided to celebrate and appreciate the duo of the Deputy Provost, Dr Rafiu Adekola Soyele and the Registrar, Mr Rafiu Abidemi Akinola as worthy and distinguished ambassadors of the Alumni Association and Abeokuta Branch.

Welcoming guests to the event, the Branch Chairman, Comrade Emma Adekunle Makanjuola, stated that indeed FCE Abeokuta Branch and the National Alumni Association were appreciative of the successes the two worthy members had done to the Association. He thanked God for raising them to the enviable position of a Deputy Provost and Registrar respectively and prayed that more honours would come to the Association revealing that in no distant time, an Alumnus would saddle the affairs of the College.

Dr M. A. O Sotayo, an alumnus, a Chief Lecturer and Chairman of the occasion while declaring the occasion open expressed thanks to God for the event as he saw it as a time to appreciate the two awardees, time to celebrate the Branch and time to congratulate the duo for their appointments.

Also speaking at the occasion, the National President of the body, Alhaji Tope Balogun noted that “individually and collectively we (Alumni) are all great people”. He posited that the coming together of the “FATICAS”, “OSIELITES” and “FCEABITES” make the Alumni Association GREAT. He thereafter prayed for a greater Association.

The President enjoined members to keep the College Flag Flying and do everything in their purview to uphold the dignity of the College. He asked every member to thereafter play their part in building the College through their prayers and support. He pleaded with the Branch to be more active at the National level while appreciating them as the most viable Branch.

Various speakers at the ceremony eulogised the good works, character and commitment of the two awardees which has elevated them to the enviable positions.
In appreciation of the person of the Deputy Provost, Dr R. A Soyele, the 2015 set donated some waste bins for use in the College.

The awardees in their various responses, thanked the organisers of the Ceremony for the honour. Going down the memory lane, they appreciated the efforts made in the past and even presently by the College Management towards employing past Student Union Officers and outstanding students. They were both optimistic that in the nearest future, the College would have an Alumnus as the Provost. They eulogised the committed efforts of the present Provost, Dr Ayodele A Ajayi at helping them attain the position they presently occupy and therefore requested for utmost and overwhelming support for his administration.
