The Provost, Dr Ayodele A. Ajayi, while receiving Executives members of the Nigerian Institute of Architects in Ogun State and Architecture students from schools across the State, advised young architects to follow the footsteps of the older generation of Architects in the Country.
He gave this advice while commending and recognising the professional prowess, good work, competency and input of the master planner of the then Federal Advanced Teacher Training College (FATC) now Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Architect Vivian Uku, during his visit to the College.
Dr Ajayi, who expressed pleasure with the Architect’s visit, noted that the College has not recorded any case of collapsed building since inception. He also expressed with concern the alarming rate of collapsed buildings that has bedevilled the Country.
While conveying his happiness, Architects Vivian Uku, who is the only surviving member of the team that established the Nigerian Society of Architects now Nigerian Institute of Architects, said that he was pleased to see the level of progress and the state of arts structures in the College which he gave its master plan 41 years ago. He further celebrated the Provost and members of the College Management for developing and maintaining the institution to the present state.
The visit was witnessed by the Deputy Provost, Dr Rafiu A. Soyele, Bursar, Mr A. O Alabi, Deputy Registrar, Council Affairs, Mr C. O Ajala, College Architect, Arc. Bolaji O. Ayodeji and Executive members of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Arc. Ayo Edun, Arc. Olubodun, Arc. Adeniyi Olugbenga, Arc. Musodiq K. Isiaka among others.
