Representative of the Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor S. O Makinde, in his remarks during the facility assessment visit made by Lagos State University to the College on Thursday 1st February, 2018 noted that FCE Abeokuta was fully prepared for the LASU Sandwich degree programme in terms of infrastructures, teaching and non-teaching staff.
Professor Makinde who was highly impressed at the Provost’s presentation on a brief profile of the College stated that “in no doubt, FCE Abeokuta would be a very good partner of LASU in this Sandwich degree project”. He stated further that LASU was no longer known for negative reports under the new Vice Chancellor who had transformed the University to a mega University.
While appealing to the College Management to pay a courtesy visit to LASU, he stated that the Vice Chancellor would be favourably disposed to granting FCE Abeokuta’s request to run programmes that were accredited at Lagos State University.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Provost, Dr Ayodele A. Ajayi gave a brief profile of the College which focused on FCE, Abeokuta since inception, sources of funds, breakdown of Schools and Departments as well as Staff strength of the College.
He thereafter prayed that Lagos State University should grant the College request of kick starting the Sandwich Degree programme soonest.
Speaking on the peculiarity of LASU’s Sandwich programme, the Acting Director, Sandwich Degree, Dr Olusola Oladipupo stated that there was no discrimination between the regular and Sandwich certificates of LASU as a unified curricular were being used. She added that the LASU sandwich programme had been running for over 20 years and that usually, graduates of the sandwich programme were being admitted at LASU for further studies.
While giving the vote of thanks, the Registrar Mr R.A Akinola appreciated members of the team from LASU, Deans and Directors present. He prayed that soonest, the sandwich degree programme would commence at the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta.
