“Language, Linguistics and Literary Studies, Quest for Global Peace and Stability” was the theme of the 13th National Conference of the School of Languages, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta held between Monday 12th and Friday 16th March, 2018 at the Kunle Filani Academic Theatre.
Speaking on the theme, the Keynote and Lead Paper presenters, Dr N.C Kammelu of the Igbo Department, Adeyemi College of Education Ondo and Dr Dayo Akanmu of the Yoruba Department Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education Oto, Ijanikin in their separate lectures maintained that for a nation to remain peaceful, the Language and Culture of that nation had to be properly understood and used in diverse ways either to reform, rebuke, correct or to make peace.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Provost of the College, Dr A.A Ajayi, who was represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr R.A Soyele appreciated participants and congratulated the convener, the Dean School of Languages, Mr A.G Sanya, for successfully hosting the conference. He further appreciated him for sustaining the legacies of the past Deans in the school.
The Dean and Convener, Mr Sanya, in his welcome speech appreciated God and the Organising Committee for a successful Conference. He further appreciated all presenters and participants at the Conference.
