The Commissioner of Police Ogun State Command, Mr Ahmed Iliyasu (DSC) has opined that violence could not be used to achieve anything and that aggrieved parties should embrace dialogue. This opinion was made at a public lecture entitled SECURITY CHALLENGES, IMPLICATION AND SOLUTION IN OGUN STATE held on Wednesday 7th March, 2018.
The CP noted that the issue of security was everybody’s concern and that since his arrival in Ogun State, he had established and encouraged community policing where everybody becomes watchmen. He therefore encouraged members of the College Community to be vigilant at all times as the issue of Cattle herdsmen was becoming worrisome. Mr Iliyasu however reiterated the efforts of Ogun State Police Command and the Police force as a whole in curbing crimes in Ogun State and by extension, Nigeria. He assured the audience that the Police Force would not rest on its oars until crime was completely wiped out in the State.
Earlier in his address, the Provost, Dr A.A Ajayi appreciated the Commissioner of Police for honouring the College’s Invitation despite his tight schedule. He stated that the topic became imperative at that material time when the country was faced with serious security challenges.
