A Don in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr Rasheed Adenrele Adetoro has asserted that, for Nigeria to regain her lost glory, she must go back to her root.
Dr Adetoro made this assertion while delivering the sixth inaugural Lecture entitled “Back to the roots, a clarion call for socio civic renaissance in Nigeria” held on Monday, 15th March, 2018 at the Kunle Filani academic Theatre.

In his lecture, Dr R.A Adetoro noted that the abandonment of the dignity of yesteryears, the current craze for ill-gotten wealth and criminalities in Nigeria among other things have led to cultural erosion, corrupt mentality, stealing by tricks, ethnic and religious jingoism, youth restiveness, democratic deficit and educational disorder.

He further stated that the expected future of the Country was the one based on a sound educational system rooted in best cultural heritage.
Earlier, the Provost of the College, Dr A.A Ajayi in his opening remarks appreciated the lecturer, friends and staff present at the lecture stating that he was confident that at the end of the lecture, the audience would have in no doubt gained tremendously.

Present at the lecture were, the College Management ably led by the Provost of the College Dr A.A Ajayi; Deans and Directors, Chief Lecturers, Deputy Directors and Deputy Registrars, members of Staff; members of Dr R A Adetoro’s family; guests from Sister Institutions in and around Abeokuta, as well as the Student Union Executive and Students.
