Delegates of the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) had its Annual General Meeting at the Federal College of Education (FCE) Abeokuta to brainstorm on how to tackle issues relating to the Union and proffer solutions to lingering ones.
Welcoming delegates at the meeting held on Wednesday 22nd September, 2021, the Provost, Dr R. A. Soyele informed them that the Management – Union relationship was cordial because there was room for consultation adding that the coming of the delegates added glamour to the College and that Management was always ready to accede to any request of NASU once it was within the reach of the College Management.
Responding to the warm reception of the College, the National Secretary, Comr. Adetunji Caroll appreciated the Management for the reception and also congratulated the Provost for his recent appointment as the substantive College Provost. He thereafter thanked the College Management for its symbiotic working relationship adding that the Union was assiduously working on FCE Abeokuta to be upgraded to a degree awarding institution.
The NASU Chairman, FCE Abeokuta Branch, Comr. W.A Adewuyi while welcoming the delegates noted that the Management-Union relationship was cordial stating all the Union’s achievement in year 2020.
While addressing the audience, the Chairman and Deputy President Comr. Sadauki Mohammed stated that the gathering was to brainstorm and proffer solutions to lingering challenges facing the Union adding that Federal Government had promised to pay minimum wage arrears by October, 2021.
The Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Ogun State, Comr. Emmanuel Bankole remarked that everyone needed to do all that would move the Country forward noting that Unions should imbibe the spirit of unity. He thereafter advised that labour should work together as a team so as to achieve their aims without hitches.
