EP&T DIVISION ORGANISES QUARTERLY SEMINAR … HOLDS ITS NEW YEAR PARTY

The Establishments, Personnel and Training Division of the Registry Department held its quarterly Seminar and New Year get-together on Monday, 27th January 2022. “Common errors made in Administration” and “Taking good Minutes of Meeting” were topics delivered by Mrs A.A Badejo and the Registrar, Dr G.A Adebayo respectively at the Seminar.

The Provost, Dr R.A Soyele while addressing the gathering lauded the organisers saying that it was an avenue for staffers to equip and update themselves. He therefore appreciated the ingenuity of Non-Teaching Staff of the College noting that when headship was okay, everything would fall in shape.

Speaking on “Taking Good Minutes of Meeting”, Dr G.A Adebayo applauded the Division for organising the periodic seminar. According to him, the main task of the Registry Department were minutes and memo writing which must be properly planned.

Dr Adebayo maintained that minutes and memo writing required consistency in writing style, font size, spacing, justification adding that staffers should be patiently attentive to get facts from opinions which must be developed not later than 72 hours after the meeting. He thereafter concluded by saying that in life, change was a permanent thing and that when one fails to develop himself, the person remained the same.

Also, one of the Division’s Staff, Mrs A.A Badejo while marshalling her topic noted that errors were mistakes that commonly happened even when it was not expected to happen. According to her, these mistakes could be attributed to - misfiling of documents, ignoring action sheets, not paying attention to names and file numbers to mention a few. She noted that these errors could cause unnecessary delay in executing jobs which in turn may affect the system. Badejo reiterated the need for officers to know how to receive, record and document memoranda adding that any action should not be delayed. She therefore advised on the need to concentrate while going through minutes or memoranda so as to avoid misinformation and avoid communication gap.

Earlier, the Deputy Registrar EP&T, Mrs O.O Oresegun while welcoming members to the Seminar stated that she was delighted to welcome the Management team to the Programme adding that the Programme was to further reveal that the Division was working hard in executing the assignment it was saddled with.
