Members of the Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education, Nigeria Cooperative and Thrift Society (SSUCOTS) have on Wednesday 10th February, 2016 elected their Executive.
It would be recalled that the SUCCOEN Welfare Scheme was unanimously agreed on by members of the congress to transform into a Cooperative Society.
In view of that, the following people have emerged as SSUCOTS pioneer Executive:
Mr L.O. Akinola, President; Mrs Y.O Adenigbagbe, Vice President; Miss O.A Olaoye General Secretary; Mr Gbenga Olubowale, Assistant General Secretary; Mr A.O Adeniy, Treasurer; Mrs O.E Doherty, Financial Secretary; Mr O.P Sangodokun, Assistant Financial Secretary; Mrs R.O Tawose, Auditor; while Mrs O.S Oyelodi, Mrs F.O Akinola and Mr O. Toki are BOT Members.
College Update hereby congratulates and wishes them a successful tenure in office.
Olatunji, Opeyemi Tosin, 13/1236 of THA/ENG department has been reabsorbed into the College.
This information was contained in a release signed by the Registrar on Thursday, 28th January, 2016.
She has been reabsorbed to resume academic activities as from Second Semester 2015/2016 academic session, having served and completed her rustication terms, brought her parent before the College along with a letter of promise to be of good behaviour from her parent.
The Provost, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta Dr A. Ayodele Ajayi has promised the Department of Theatre Arts of the College a modern and larger performance studio. The assurance was made during the official initiation of 43 fresh students to the Theatre Arts profession on Thursday 3rd March 2016. The symbolic initiation is an annual "ritual" for the new intakes into the Department of Theatre Arts of the College. Speaking further on the interest of the College Management in overall physical development on the campus, the Provost said that the College would soon complete the first round of the infrastructural development which covers more classroom and lecture theatres.
He said the second stage would include laboratories and studios which would capture the theatre arts studio.
Responding to a request by the Head of Department, the provost assured Dr Chris Omotosho that a degree programme in Theatre Arts would soon be launched in the College. He however noted that the commencement of the course would depend on satisfactory report by the accreditation team of the Nigerian Universities Commission.
Former Miss Odunbaku, Oluwayemisi Omolara and Miss Adeniji Oluremi Adebisi of the College Medical Centre and School of Vocational Education respectively wish to be known and addressed as Mrs Fashola,Oluwayemisi Omolara and Mrs Osinowo, Oluremi Adebisi henceforth. These are as a result of marriage. The College community should please take note.
“Sporting activities is not a waste of time. It is indeed refreshing to the body and soul. It is an elixir”. These were the words of the Deputy Provost Dr. Mrs B.A Adeniji who represented the Provost, Dr. A.A. Ajayi at the 3rd Inter-house sports’ competition of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta Model Secondary School held at the College field on Tuesday, 22nd February, 2016.
At the occasion, the Chairman, Board of Federal College of Education Model Secondary School, Dr (Mrs) T.A Akinyele thanked the Board members, Teachers, Parents, Students and all invited guests for making out time to grace this event. She advised all to partake in sporting activities as it was good for the body.
Speaking in the same vein, the Principal of the school, Mr. D.O Adaralegbe encouraged all to sit back and enjoy the sporting activities of that day. He charged the students to show the stuff they were made of.
At the end of the inter-house sports’ competition, Blue house came first with a total of 150 points followed closely by the Green House with a total point of 143 and the Yellow house came third with a total point of 124 while the Red house came fourth with 113 points.
Present at the occasion were members of the College Management, the Odeda Zonal Education Officer, Mrs Dosumu, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta Model Secondary School (FCEMSS) Board members, Parents/Teachers Association Executive, Old Students, Members of Staff of FCE, Abeokuta and well-wishers.
