The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta has qualified manpower and seasoned lecturers that were second to none. This was the submission of the State Coordinator, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Ogun State, Mrs Funmilayo Oniyide while congratulating the newly admitted students of the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) on Friday, 9th march 2018 at the orientation programme of fresh PDE students organised by the Centre for Sandwich and Pre- NCE Programmes of the College (CESSAPREP).

Earlier, the Provost, Dr A. A Ajayi ably represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr R.A Soyele, who is also the Chairman Board of CESSAPREP, reiterated the need for the orientation programme saying that FCE Abeokuta has zero tolerance for examination malpractices. He therefore urged the PDE students to cultivate good reading habit and be studious.

Other speakers at the programme maintained the need for the Students to do away with every form of Social Vices that may disrupt their Academics, make use of the Library and also take Teaching Practice with all seriousness.


A varsity Don and Director of the affiliated Institutions of the University of Ibadan, Professor M.K Akinsola has advised matriculating students to shun all forms of social vices as the University would not tolerate any act of indiscipline.

This advice was given at the 6th Matriculation ceremony of the students of the Centre for Degree Programmes, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta affiliated with the University of Ibadan on Wednesday 28th February, 2018.

The Provost, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Dr A.A Ajayi in his address advised the students to be good representatives of their homes and shun cultism as the College and the University of Ibadan had zero tolerance for such.

The Matriculation oath was administered to by the Registrar, University of Ibadan, represented by the Deputy Registrar Academics, Dr Ikeoluwa Moody.

Present at the Matriculation Ceremony were representatives of the Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. M.K Akinsola; Representative of the Registrar (U.I) Dr Ikeoluwa Moody; Provost of the College, Dr A.A Ajayi; College Registrar, Mr R.A Akinola; Director Centre for Degree Programmes, Dr B.L Wikina; Coordinator and the Administrative Secretary of the Centre, Dr J.B Filani and Mrs O.B Akinbande; respectively, Dean School of Vocational Education, Dr T.A Akinyele; Dean School of Science, Dr M.F Aderanti; a Senior Deputy Registrar, Mrs M.F Ajala as well as Staffers of CEDEP and Information Directorate,


Delegates of the Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education in Nigeria (SSUCOEN) from the seven ( 7) Southwest States in the Country on Thursday 8th February, 2018 converged on the Federal College of Education , Abeokuta for its 29th Southwest Delegates Conference.

The Provost, Dr A.A Ajayi while declaring the Delegates Conference open commended and welcomed all delegates and the leadership of the Union especially at the Branch level. He saluted the Executives and members of the Branch on the level of completion of the Branch’s building which was a surprise to him; he thereafter pledged his support towards the Union’s Building having seen what has been constructed so far.

The Southwest Zonal Chairman, Comrade Ebun Atinuke in his address lauded the College Management for its support towards the Union and its members in the past years. While appreciating the delegates, Comrade Atinuke expressed gratitude for the philanthropist, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu, who donated the Office complex to the Union.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Branch Chairman, Comrade Doyin Iyasere while welcoming all delegates also appreciated the College Management for its unflinching support towards the Union. He further applauded the College Management for the prompt payment of end of year package in spite the Country’s economic recession as well as distribution of laptops to all its members and the conversion of members of staff with additional qualifications.

Present at the Opening Ceremony of the Zonal Delegate’s Conference were the Provost, Dr A.A Ajayi; National President, SSUCOEN represented by the Assistant National Secretary, Comrade O. Olasan, Zonal Chairman, Comrade Ebun Atinuke, Branch Chairman; Comrade Doyin Iyasere, delegates from the Southwest Federal and State Colleges of Education and members of the host Institution.


The Provost of the College, Dr A.A Ajayi on Tuesday, 6th March 2018 asserted that, Federal College of Education Abeokuta has zero tolerance for “Thugery”, Hooliganism, Cultism and Examination Malpractice. He made this assertion at the 2017/2018 Matriculation Ceremony of 2,654 fresh intakes.

Speaking further, the Provost congratulated all the matriculating students on their admission into the College. He maintained that the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta remains the Centre of Academic excellence and the First and Best Tertiary Institution in Ogun State. He admonished the Students to justify the confidence reposed in them by their parents and do all in their power to be hard working, morally sound and good ambassadors of the College at all times.

The matriculation oath was administered by the Registrar, Mr R.A Akinola to all the matriculating students.

In attendance at the Matriculation ceremony were the Provost, Dr A.A Ajayi and members of the College Management; Deans, Directors and some Deputy Registrars.


Having completed their higher degree programmes successfully, Mr C. O Akintade, Mrs O.O.M Adekunle and Mr O.T Oludare have been conferred with Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education; English with specialization in Pragmatics and Christian Religious Studies respectively from University of South Africa, Pretoria, South Africa; Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State and University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

With these achievements, they are to be known and addressed as Dr C.O Akintade, Dr (Mrs) O.O.M Adekunle and Dr O.T Oludare. The College Community should please take note.
