The Ogun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Hammed Abodunrin paid a courtesy visit to the College Management on Thursday 8th October, 2020 as part of his familiarization visit to Odeda Local Government Area.
In his address, the Commandant thanked the College for being part of the achievement recorded by NSCDC in the State adding that FCE Abeokuta and his Command should have a symbiotic relationship. While commending the Provost for maintaining its physical structures that had in no small measures added to its uniqueness among other Institutions in the State, he noted that there was need to educate everyone on security consciousness. He further informed that the Command would soon embark on Security Training on how to identify threats. He therefore appealed to the College Management for the use of College facilities for the training adding that his Command was ready to collaborate with the College on Human Capacity building.
Responding through the Deputy Provost, Dr R.A Soyele, the Provost appreciated the Commandant for the visit saying that the College had zero tolerance for vices and indiscipline. According to him, aside Teacher Education, the College was also involved in Community Services adding that there was collaboration between the College and the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) as a means of producing quality and well equipped Teachers. The Provost further noted that FCE Abeokuta was well fenced as guard against any form of attack by hoodlums stressing that the College had a good number of security personnel. He thereafter stated that the College would be ready to collaborate with the Command in the area of training the College Security personnel and usage of College facilities.
On hand to receive the NSCDC Commandant and his entourage were the Deputy Provost, Dr R.A Soyele; Registrar, Dr G.A Adebayo; Bursar, Mr A.O Alabi; Deans, Directors, Deputy Registrars and some members of staff.
