The Needs Assessment Committee set up by President Goodluck Jonathan arrived the College on Wednesday, 5th February, 2014 to carry out a verification assessment of infrastructure and personnel in the College.
Welcoming the team to the College, the Provost, Dr. Ayodele A. Ajayi commended the Federal Government for setting up the Committee, which according to him has shown the commitment of the present administration in transforming the Education sector.
Speaking further, he lamented the infrastructural decay and inadequate teaching facilities in the institution and hoped that the present initiatives of the government would go a long way in addressing some of Challenges confronting the College.
Dr. Ajayi who praised the Federal Government gesture for funding education through Tetfund also called for increased funding to meet the persistence growing needs of the College.
Responding, the Chairman of the Needs Assessment Committee, Prof. Salihu Ingawa said Government is committed to the transformation of education in the country, adding that teacher education has suffered a lot, especially at the basic level. He called on all the stakeholders in the Country to contribute their Quota towards the upliftment of education to its lost glory. He commended the College for its hospitality and promised that his Committee would reflect the needs of the College when submitting its report.
In her Vote of thanks, the Chairman of the College Needs Assessment Committee and the Deputy Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) Bolatito Adeniji, expressed her appreciation to Management, Presidential Committee team, College Committee members, Deans, Heads of Department, Directors, Academic and non-Academic staff for providing the necessary support and information throughout the exercise.
