FCE Abedokuta Admonises Students to Take TRCN Exams

Students of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta have been advised to register, sit for and pass the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) examination and it is worthy of note that they have been excelling in the Professional Examination.

This assertion was made by the Deputy Provost, Dr. R.A Soyele at the 2020 TRCN reaccreditation exercise for the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) Programme held in the College on Friday, 9th October, 2020. He appreciated the team led by a Don from the University of Ibadan, Professor Esther Odiolowu, saying that, FCE Abeokuta was the first and the best College of Education in Ogun State adding that since inception, the College had never lost any of its academic session to crisis. According to him, the vision of the College to be the most preferred College of Education in Nigeria had been its watchword saying that the College remained the most peaceful tertiary institution in Ogun State. Dr. Soyele noted that for Professionalism and Competence, the College mandated all its products to sit for the TRCN’s Exams so that this will give them edge over their Colleagues and also distinguish the College as the Centre of
Excellence.

The Team leader, Prof. Esther Odiolowu in her address noted that the team was overwhelmed with all they had seen since arrival adding that it was worth collaborating with the College. She remarked that the mandate of the College to provide qualified, efficient, effective and standard education could not be overemphasised saying that the team would be objective in its assignment. She therefore commended the College for the caliber of work force it had got urging the College Management to always reexamine staffers.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director of the Centre for Pre NCE and Preparatory Programmes (CESAPREP), Dr. A.O Abati stated that the College had maintained excellence from the onset adding that it has produced prominent individuals in the society. He stated further that FCE Abeokuta was blessed with egg headed Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff, infrastructures and conducive learning environment which according to him was enough for the Council to reaccredit the Programme.

At the end of the accreditation exercise, the Team commended the College for the human and material resources it had and advised on some areas which were noted by the Deputy Provost.

At the official opening of the accreditation exercise were the Deputy Provost, Dr R.A Soyele; the team leader, Prof. Esther Odiolowu, Registrar, Dr. G.A Adebayo; Bursar, Mr A.O Alabi; the College Librarian, Dr. G.O Oyewole; Director from TRCN, Mr Owam, TRCN Abeokuta Coordinator, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Oniyide among others.
